When we’re making a movie, sometimes we have to go the distance. Linda Luhman is a badass Woman who plays Deb one of the main murderers, trudged through feet of snow last night at dusk to get some of our most important shots. She brought a toboggan with some plastic garbage bags for our gear, props and other supplies and then we all began the half mile journey into the woods. Stephen wore the 70’s snowsuit worn by Yvonne during the murder scene, Olive our crippled doggie fell in our boot holes and scuffed up her nub while Deb cursed me and the movie the entire way out to the “whack shack” where Chuckie used to shamelessly insult humanity after his wife finally left their abusive marriage. After getting the epic shots in the middle of the field Linda could walk the tree line which was much easier but still a huge pain in the ass. I tried my best to punch holes in the snow before her but it still hurt. She has bursitis in the hip and a bad knee….The back brace I’m hoping helped a little. And all for the love of art! I am so sorry Linda that I do not have the money to pay you what you are worth….I can say that I admire your strength, willpower, knowledge and wonderful talent! And not giving up on your intentions to work in this business. Linda was a State Patrol Dispatcher for 20 years and now is the office manager. She went to school for advertising and producing so we are lucky to have her around these parts in this pursuit as I do not have the mind….Thank you for totally bringing it and inspiring us all with all that you do in and outside of this project!!! Working with you is always good whether we’re on a stage, you’re holding a boom pole, infront of the camera or plotting moves on Facebook. “Rest in pieces Charlie”….#womeninfilm #wifi #minoritiesinfilm #wisconsinfilmmaker #indiefilmmakern #buttercreamproductions #meatrafflefilm
Hey guys!! Here is a new version of the trailer for the movie Meat Raffle! There is still work to do on it, but we just can’t wait to share some of your faces! And also our message to the world of what are we eating and more importantly, what was the quality of its life and how does it affect everything? I the director/writer/actress do support hunting (without weird baiting) and animal husbandry….although, I am most of the time a vagatarian…I mean, vegetarian except for those rare occasions when I do eat fish if I know it was not caught in a giant commercial net…..Gotta love political satire!!! It’s hard to talk to each other sometimes isn’t it? Making art together is a great way to have the conversation!!!! Everyone can be a part of it!!! I love you people!! #endfactoryfarming #meatrafflefilm #aimeechenal #buttercreamproductions #smalltownstrong #fredericwisconsin #lewiswisconsin #womeninfilm #womeninfilmandtv #wisconsinfilmmakers #mnfilmandtv #wisconsin #thehangout #beef #corruption #womensupportingwomen
We were so excited to see this clip. Here is a message from Kari Layland Owner of Tough Love Productions in MN…”I got to direct and film a scene for Meat Raffle – Film! Check out this hilariously awkward exchange. Lots of laughter involved in filming this, and throughout editing as I watched the footage back. Enjoy the teaser! Aimee Chenal did an amazing job writing this comedic scene (and being a badass producer!), Daniel Ingalls held strong containing his laughter being the “serious” priest, and Rob Harrison delivered as the awkward “friend” and his terrible advice. You guys are awesome!” Kari Layland
What a beautiful experience I had filming with all the wonderful people in and around the area. The Halloween decorations were donated by a few local bars, T Dawgs in Grantsburg, Friendly’s in Frederic…Our snacks were donated by Trader Bill’s Discount store in Siren, the meat for the raffle was donated by local butchers Daeffler’s in Frederic and Block and Cleaver in Siren. Actors from MN and Northwest WI travelled in a blizzard to film a movie about a blizzard! Locals came out and became actors! We filmed many many scenes in quite a short period of time…..They were storyboarded very well, planned out by Shawn my director friend from Creepy Acres who normally only directs puppets. The local bar The Hangout owners were super helpful, generous and openminded…It was a real dream for me to film this movie here because I grew up in this bar and then bartended there for three years so I knew the place like the back of my hand. We had the trust and full reign of the place and were able to set up our lights, cameras and sound. The staff and the manager, cooked up the steaks for the scenes which I was so grafeful for since I am a vegetarian… We taught some of the regulars about set etiquette and ask them to be “quiet on the set” which was a little challenging but they picked it up pretty quick or moved on after getting a taste and enjoying a bit of the movie making process. Some of them joined in as extras or even took on roles last minute which was a surprise ! I was also blessed to have so many good sports who learned on the spot how to do sound, camera, lights…..People brought equipment and food……Small town strong is what it is called!!!! Creating is the highest vibration that there is in my opinion and doing with a bunch of energetic, open minded people is what makes it the very best! I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone involved and I look forward to celebrating the final piece with you one day in the near future! A special thanks too to the animals that were in the movie, this movie is a platform to continuously fight for animals to be treated with honor and respect, given good quality, healthy lives before their sacrifice….As well as raising the vibration for us all to have more freedom to create, be healthy, happy and have the most freedom without harm…There are a lot of powerful Women involved in making this film, starring in it, filming and producing it which has not been very common in this industry something we are changing…Humanity and our planet are facing some very serious realities today and comedy is how I like to open up dialogue about it….Click below for a fun clip from the shoot! #wif #wisconsinfilmmakers #indiefilmmakers #aif #womenproducers #womenscreenwriters #actress #meatraffle #meatrafflefilm #fredericwisconsin #thehangout #lewiswisconsin #endfactoryfarming #womeninfilm #womensupportwomen #womenentrepeneurs #womeninbusiness #womendirectors #buttercreamproductions #talentagent #filmfestival
